Welcome to our blog!

Komodo Dragon Base pulled South Africa out of our World Cup draw - which means we have taken on South Africa as our learning journey this half term.

Not only will we be focusing on the World cup and tracking South Africa's progress, but we will also be learning through International Arts week, Nelson Mandela and why people in different countries were and are treated differently.

Keep you eyes peeled on our blog as lots of exciting things will be happening!

As promised ...

Everyone wishing to be a house captain has written and presented their speeches to the whole school.

It was a tough thing to do but everyone remebered our success criteria and spoke clearly and loudly...well done guys!

Each memeber of each house then had to think carefully about who they thought would make the best house captain and they then had to vote.

So ...presenting the house captains and vice house captains of 2009 - 2010:

Bulbarrow:
  • Jamie as house captian
  • Katie as vice house captain
Stour:
  • Lucie as house captain
  • Faisal as vice house captain
Melbury:
  • Olivia as house captain
  • Dominic as vice house captain
Hambledon:
  • Alisha as house captain
  • Billy as vice house captain
A big well done to everyone in Komodo Base for giving it their all and having a go!

The Earth is Special

To start our topic off in Komodo Dragon Base we have been considering how the Earth is special and why we should look after it.

We have considered how the Earth was created, who created it and why it was created. The children have also looked at different Creation stories such as: the Aboriginal Creation, the Chinese Creation story and many others.

Komodo Dragon Base then became artists and designed and made creation collages. A lot of thought has gone into them - the children were asked to think about the quality of the materials they were using and how to collate different colours, textures and techniques.
They are now up in Komodo Dragon Base.

Finally ... house captains?

Keep an eye on the blog as throughout the week we will be learning how to make an effective speech. This will then lead into the children writing their own speeches for their bid to become this year's house captains.
Good luck everyone!

Be Prepared to be Impressed With Summer Home Learning!

The task was to create a fact file about the Komodo Dragon. I think you will agree that the children have gone above and beyond what was expected of them. They're great!

Take a look ...

What a fab week in Komodo Dragon Base!
There has been so much already going on in our class that I don't actually know where to start!

We have spent a long time thinking about how we want our learning envirnoment to be like in Komodo Dragon Base through creating a nightmare school and then changing it to a dream school. We used drama to explore these ideas and then created our class charter.
We have also been thinking about what makes each of us individual, unique and special. From this we have created our own I.D to identify ourselves, including our own self portrait. Have a look at the pictures of what we have been doing.
