Welcome to our blog!

Komodo Dragon Base pulled South Africa out of our World Cup draw - which means we have taken on South Africa as our learning journey this half term.

Not only will we be focusing on the World cup and tracking South Africa's progress, but we will also be learning through International Arts week, Nelson Mandela and why people in different countries were and are treated differently.

Keep you eyes peeled on our blog as lots of exciting things will be happening!

Transfer Day - 2nd July 2009

What a fab day!
Year 5 and I had a great day on transfer day. We spent a lot of time thinking about Komodo Dragons seeing as this is our base name as of September!
We researched lots of facts about these fascinating creatures included:
  • They use their tongue to smell their prey
  • They have poisonous bacteria in their mouth which is deadly
  • The dragon will eat more or less anything including other dragons, pigs, water buffalo and even a human
  • The were only discovered about 100 years ago
  • A female dragon can lay up to 30 eggs.

The rest will be on our door from September so do come and have a look.

We also tested our creativity by creating Komodo dragon poems using the ideas we had researched - some great ideas guys!

Last but not least - we finished our day by creating our own dragons. Again, they will be on our door from September so come and have a peek.

As I have already said - a great day. Mrs Cooper and I can't wait until September!
