Welcome to our blog!

Komodo Dragon Base pulled South Africa out of our World Cup draw - which means we have taken on South Africa as our learning journey this half term.

Not only will we be focusing on the World cup and tracking South Africa's progress, but we will also be learning through International Arts week, Nelson Mandela and why people in different countries were and are treated differently.

Keep you eyes peeled on our blog as lots of exciting things will be happening!

Bollywood to Hollywood and all that jazz!

Our topic has moved from India to Bollywood and then across seas to Hollywood. Komodo Dragon Base have been exploring what early Hollywood would of been like, why Hollywoodland was chosen to build the studios and what benefits and drawback the site had.

We also investigated the history of films and discovered that films really started with puppet shows. This prompted an investigation into discovering if you could change the colour of a shaodw by using different materials.

Komodo Dragon Base were fab and were able to use and apply terms such as: opaque, translucent and transparent.

Of course, that's not all - we also investigated how else we could change a shadow. We had groups investigate the size of the object, the distance from the light source, the size of light source and even the strength of the light source.

Great stuff!
