Aboriginal Art in Komodo Dragon Base
As the final part of our Aboriginal topic the children wanted to find out about Aboriginal art, what it looked like and what it was used for.
We looked at a selection of different techniques for printing and evaluated them. We then explored and experimented with these methods of printing.
We learnt how to mono print, use relief printing and etching. We also thought about how to layer the different printing techniques.
Check out their final designs!

Little Canada Activites

I think the best were Jacobs ladder, kayaking and archery. The ladder was very hard because as you went up the gaps got bigger and harder, the kayaking was fun because you got to go were you what to in it.
The first activites group 2 did were abseiling, dragon boating,aqua-fun and jacobs ladder they were all fun some harder then others.I think the dragon boating was the best because my team won.The next day we did canoe & kayaking, archery and team games all of these were really fun. I liked the archery. I hit the middle three times!!

LITTLE CANADA DIARY
Jacobs ladder:
Jacobs ladder has been the hardest activity yet, It is approximately 10 metres tall and 3 metres in width. Many people got to the top, which was very hard to get to. All our knees were shaking, we were horrified when we got to the to we felt on top of the world, which we were nearly.
Archery:
Archery was fantastic. Kate, who was one of the instructors, helped us in Archery. Some of us played the Pizza Game, the Pizza Game is when you have to fire at the targets.

.Black – Olives
.Blue – Peperoni
.Red – Tomatoes
.Yellow – Cheese

On the 14th May we were on our way to the Isle of Wight! It was a great trip and I went on a ferry for the first time in my life!
We had lunch on the ferry and then we went outside to see the water and it was a very windy day. Also, my hair was blowing everywhere (hair products needed!)! Even though my hair was blowing everywhere it was a beautiful island,we got off the ferry and went straight to Little Canada!!!
When we got there we were greeted by Steve and Kate.
Steve and Kate were very kind and helpful. We had a tour and found out who we were sharing a cabin with,I shared with Olivia, Brook, Emily and Katie!
Its Dinner time and I am exhausted! The dinner was lovely but 1 Thing was missing ….....CHIPS!!! oh well it's not the end of the world! The dinner was lovely and so were all of the staff there!!!

Little Canada Activities
From 14th of May to 17th of May the year six children were divided into four groups to do a series of activities such as: zip wire, inside climbing, boating activities and archery.
On Friday there was only one activity. This activity was the generation game. The generation game involved things like: races and guessing games. The team with the most points at the end won the entire game.
On Saturday three things were going on. For group one they had: Jacobs Ladder, Dragon Boating, Aqua fun and Archery. Group two had: Abseiling, Dragon Boating, Aqua Funand Jacobs Ladder. Group three had: Archery, Dragon Boating, Zip Wire and Aqua Fun. Group four had: Zip Wire, Dragon Boating, Inside Climbing, and Aqua Fun on the second day of Little Canada.
Little Canada's activities were some of the greatest things me and my class did.
A great weekend at PGL!
Dear Diary,
The past few days were amazing! We did loads of activities, and they were so much fun. We (Emily and Alisha) are going to tell you all about the activities we have done so far!
My favourite activity was Canoeing! It was so much fun but scary! I was in a canoeing with Mr Lavis and a girl from Durweston Teagon. I was in the middle, Mr Lavis was in the back and Teagon was at the front. We were really good. We played a game were they throw some balls in the water and you had to get them. Then you had to put them in the speed boat! If you put the ball in the boat you get 5 points if you throw the ball in the boat you get 3 points! The last thing we did was head, shoulders, knees and toes and every thing was jumping, it was so much fun!!!!!!
My favourite activity was zip wire! I was really nervous at the beginning, but i just went for it. When i felt OK with it i stepped of backwards and it was amazing. Before i stepped of backwards the man called George forgot to un-tie me from him, so i was just hanging there and he had to pull me back up!
Bye

Little Canada 2010
I had loads of fun at Little Canada, it was really cool! I enjoyed everything we did, well almost everything (canoeing.) I enjoyed the other activity paired with canoeing though, the kayaking was really fun and you got your own boat to control yourself.
My favourite activity of them all was Jacobs ladder because you got a real sense of achievement when you got to the top! (which I amongst a lot of other people did!) This isn't me but this is what it's like.

It's pretty high up when you're at the top and I found it quite scary up there! There were three jobs to do there was the obvious one climbing, the less obvious one b-laying were you tighten the rope for the climber and tailing were you have to hold the rope and keep it in a smiley face. You had to were lots of gear to go up there helmets, bottom harnesses, top harnesses, screw gate clips ,flip flop gate clips and safety ropes! That's a lot of equipment!
This is just my favourite there's loads more activities:
- Canoeing and kayaking
- inside climbing
- zip wire
- aqua fun
- dragon boating
- abseiling
- archery
- team games
ENTs (Evening Activities):
- generation game
- disco
- passport to the world (my team won the Falcon hunters)

Archery
At Little Canada, this was the greatest activity ever!!! None of us have ever done it before which made it more fun for all of us! As we entered the tent, we realised that there were holes in the tent due to the arrows hitting it!
We then saw the aiming boards which got us all excited as it was all new to us. The instructor then taught us how to use them and then let us have a go, it was so cool! Almost all of us got it into the bulls eye but even the ones who didn't get it into the bulls eye got it pretty close! When we had finished we all wanted to have another go! Also we got points for some games that we did and my team lost by one point! I have to say that this was an amazing activity and one that we will never forget or how to do as it is simple and easy to do (Although the bows are almost as big as us!)

Little Canada Trip
I had loads of fun at Little Canada. I climbed a gigantic ladder, went on a zip wire, and went to a disco. In this, I will be telling you all about the disco we went to at Little Canada and how much fun we had during that time.
As soon as we got to Isle of Wight, we were greeted by our 2 groupies, Steve and Kate. They are 2 of the most friendly people you could ever meet. After we met them, we went to see our cabins. I was in Cabin No. 12 with Liam and 4 Durweston Boys: Fabien, Matthew, Owen and James!
The Disco was really, really fun. The whole class was having a great time when they were dancing on the floor. I did the worm and everyone clapped. It couldn't believe it! All of the people at the disco was applauding me!
As well as being solo at the disco, I was with my friends: Billy, Fabien, Christopher, Scott, Liam, Callum B, Daniel, Tom, Watson, James, Owen and Ethan. We were rocking the dance floor like there was no tomorrow yet, there was a tomorrow.
It was an amazing time while I was there. I did loads of goods stuff. It felt amazing to see my parents again on Monday!

Year 6 Trip To Little Canada
On the 14th May to the 17th of May we (year 6) went to PGL Little Cananda on the Isle Of Wight. We all had an amazing time away! These were the activities we did...
We did all of these in four activity groups. We were mixed with Durweston, I think we all liked every single minute of our time at Little Canada and we all enjoyed the activities we did! Our groupies were called Steve and Kate, they were so kind and helpful and funny! Our hole class said that it was the best school trip ever!

KAYAKING AND CANOEING!

The canoeing wasn't as fun though. The canoeing was harder and games were scarier because we had to climb in to another canoe!

Year 6 at PGL
As you know us year six went to Little Canada(Isle of Wight) The most scariest thing was kayaking when we were rowing. Ethan capsized in the first couple of minutes. The water was freezing and he panicked. He got soaked. More people capzised in our group than in the other group.
We also enjoyed aqua fun when we were playing games. The Isle Of Wight was AMAZING!

Diary of Little Canada: Jacobs Ladder!
Wow... Jacob's Ladder is TERRIFING! I didn't think that I could go through with it and climb the enormous thing – but I did!! I wasn't easy, the ladder kept moving around and we were having to crouch down to help a team mate up to the next log, I very almost slipped. Don't worry – I was in a very tight harness (I insisted on having it tight for my safety!) of which I learnt to put on myself! I also got to hold the rope to keep somebody else up, I was under a LOT of pressure! It was a great experience though!
Oh, and the food is quite nice!
