What a question!

The children were presented with a mixture of pasta, sand and water and challenged to see which magic team could create the cleanest water.

We had:

Team Fizz Pop

Team Chocolate cake

Team Cherry Blossom

Team Abracadabra

Each team has a beaker, the mixture, some fabric and some cotton wool to achieve the challenge.

I would like to thank Miss King and all of Year 6 for the wonderful time I had working with you this morning.  I really enjoyed getting to know you all and watching you take part in assembly, activity time [some fantastic hoop movements!] and in your classroom activities.


I enjoyed working with you all on your numeracy and literacy reports on 'Astronauts and Space Travel' and learned some new facts myself. 


I hope you enjoyed having me working alongside you all.

The Way Forward?

For our first magic trick ...

The children were challenged to separate the mixtures put in front of them.

Plastic beads and paper clips

Sugar and marbles

Pasta and sugar

Water, pasta and sand

Water, sugar, pasta and sand

They were asked to think about the equipment they would need to ask for but couldn't use spoons, fingers, pieces of paper to scoop out the objects or a pencil!

Eventually, they managed to work out that they needed a sieve (magnets for the paper clips) although this still caused problems for the sand, water and pasta mixture.

Each week, the children in Komodo Dragon Base are set a magic trick challenge to solve.

This week the challenge of white carnations in coloured water has been set . I have also set up a 'control' so that we can compare the results next week.

Welcome back to a new year and a new term!

This term, we will be learning about the magic of science and we started thinking about this last half term. We took part in 3 magical science tricks and then began to think about what others magic tricks could we learn about and find out the answers to.

Choosing a small selection of the questions has been really hard for the planning but here they are:

Early life:
On December 25th 1899 New York City U.S Humphrey Bogart was born.He soon grew up and went to private school as he grew up he and was kicked out of school. In 1918 he joined the navy un till 1921 when he stated  acting in 1921 before  he did all this he most liked playing chess.

His four wives:

Humphrey Bogart had four wives. The first wive was Helen Menken they were maryed for one year.His next wive Mary Philip they wure maryed to1928to 1937.Next one was Mayo Meth to 1938 to1945.He marred his 4th wive on 1945 may 21th.

Did you  know that Walt Dinsney was born in 1901 ?,well if you did not  then you should read on to find amazing things ,like when he was born  he moved to when he was little to the maretre-missoar .

Walt Disney went to high school and it was called mike high .He studied art,ghtogrey at school . He wanted to   join the army in  but he was to young so he went to France and drove a ambulance around and he drew animations then on the ambulance  .

Disney land was coming together for ever .

In 1925 he married his employee. This was his only wife .Then you would think it could not get any beter he was the amazing  Hollywood figure.

Did you know that disney land was open in 1950 it is only 59 years old ? It is America's most famous tourist attraction and it made Diney land really popular .

Marilyn Monroe was best known for appearing in movies such as Bus Stop.Marilyn  was also a model as well as an excellent singer.

Marilyn was born on 1st June1926 in Los Angles,Californa.Marilyn Monroe's birth name was Norma Jeane. In september 1935 she was put in an orphanage at the age of 9.

Adulthood (20+):

Even though  the great war was finished war was still around.So in 1954 she performed for American troops in Korea.June 1962 she made her last public apearance.On the 5th of August 1962 she was found dead in her bedroom.

Mariylin Monroe (Norma Jeane) was best known for the films she made in Hollywood,although she was a good singer-she made her first film in 1957 when she was just 30.

However, how much do you really know about her and her exciting life? In this text you will find out about her unknown death.So read on.

Childhood:
Her life began on the first of June 1926 in Los Angeles Califonia (USA).In 1933 her mum suffered from a mental breakdown and she was sent to an orphanage.

On the 18th of June 1962 she made her last public apperence in Hollywood. Just 1 month later she died in her bedroom .Nobdy knows what it was from but some think she was assasinated.

Judy garland was a young actress who was best known fo her outstanding peromance in the film the Wizard Of Oz in 1939. Please read on to increase your knowledge of Judy Garland and her life. 

Early Life:

Judy Garland was born on the tenth of June 1922 under the the name of Frances Ethel Gumm. A few years later she changed her name to Judy Garland. Her parents gave her the nickname Baby Gumm. In 1926 she and her family moved to lancaster in Calofornia surprisingly there she did the film that made her famous.

Later Life:

Thirteen years later after she moved she was given a chance do the film The Wizard Of Oz at a young age. During her life to 1969 she had married eight husbands. In the same year on June the twenty second she died from a accidental overdose of drugs in her bathroom. In 1997 she won a grammy award even though she was dead.

Frances Ethel Gumm, mostly known as Judy Garland, had an excited life full of ups and downs of her celebritiy lifestyle. An amazing actress and singer she was, but her life was full of tragedy as she horrificly commited suicide accidentily. 

Stardom:

Judy Garland stared in an extreamly successful movie, 'The Wizard Of Oz',

Dorothy Gale was the character she played. This happened in 1938 when Judy was just 16.

The stardom carried on a year later, when Judy was thrilled to find out that in October 1939  at the age of just 17 she cast her hands and footprints outside 'Grauman's Chinease Theartre'.

The same year Judy gave birth to her third and final child Joey (Joseph) she stared in her own television show, The Judy Garland Show! The original  channal Judy performed on was CBS. The show ran from September 29th to March 29th 1964. There was 26 episodes of this fantastic show!
